Elegantly embracing the High Tea experience | The Tea Room

I recently ticked the High Tea experience off my Bucketlist, and what an experience it was. I had wonderful company and mouth watering food. The Tea Room is located on the third floor of the Queen Victoria Building (QVB) in Sydney CBD. For all those looking for a way to spend a girls day, I would definitely recommend it.

Upon entering the room, I was taken aback by the interior design. It was unbelievably elegant, making me feel like I was back in Paris, in a Chateau.  There were three chandeliers hanging from the roof, with flowers and beautiful plates on the tables. The room is also a function center for weddings, and there was one happening the very afternoon we were there.

We received our menus and had a few selections to choose from. We opted for the Cocktail Afternoon Tea, which allowed us to choose from an array of teas, and included a cocktail and a selection of finger sandwiches, petit fours, sweet and savoury pastries, scone with preserve and clotted cream (just writing it down is making me hungry). Now I'm usually a coffee kinda girl, but to keep in with the 'high tea' theme, I chose the Heaven and Earth tea - a Japanese style green tea.

Now I had been warned that I would get full quickly, but I thought surely not, because the sandwiches and desserts were quite small and have you seen the size of a schnitzel I can eat? Anyway, I got full, fast. Don't let the size fool you as it did me! Pace yourself and the biggest pointer which was given to me after I had complained about carrying a food baby and being unable to move (talk about elegance), eat your scone last. As this is the main reason you fill up so quickly.  I now know for next time and so do you.

So all in all it was a lovely experience, one that I plan to do again. If you have a suggestions of Afternoon/High Tea places to try, let me know, because I would love to try them!
